(W)hole progression for New Street concourse

Progress on deconstruction work to the reinforced concrete lower levels of the NCP car park as part of the New Street Station redevelopment works, to allow the expansion of the concourse, Deconstructing starts Birmingham New Street redevelopment continues with the pictures below showing rapid progress.

The deconstruction is for a concrete slab 300mm thick 6000m 2 and associated removal of supporting concrete beams and facade associated with it.

Meanwhile another tender has been issued for roof works for the station, WP3600 Roofing & waterproofing at Birmingham new street railway station, as part of the station development works.

Network rail wishes to procure a suitably experienced contractor for the supply and installation of roofing and waterproofing at Birmingham New Street Station. The scope of works includes: — the design (including all support metalwork), manufacture, supply and installation of the new roofs, including all new roof decks, coverings and roof insulation, — the roofs are new composite roof (approx. 500 m²), new standing seam roofs (approx. 1 400 m²), asphalt roofs (approx. 300 m²), ETFE roofing with standing seam interface (approx. 200 m²), — supply and installation of all roof lights and associated flashings etc. to new roofs, — supply and installation of cladding of ancillary buildings on the Upper Retail level of the Pallasades Shopping Centre where the walls and roof are clad in the same material, — remedial works to existing roof areas, — supply and installation of spray applied waterproofing works (approx 4 600 m²) associated with new fixtures on both the new and existing roof decks such as plant, ducts, redundant service penetrations and duct vents, trays, mansafe and guarding systems etc. Works will be carried out over the project duration in order that the station remains operational at all times. estimated cost excluding VAT Rangebetween 1 000 000 and 2 000 000 GBP.
