Banking on a Birmingham Future

Financial News Online reports that UBS recruited eight advisers from PriceWaterhouseCoopers for it's Birmingham office last week. This follows earlier news in July that Barclays are planning to move it's entire Midlands retail office, over 1,000 staff, to four floors of a new building in central Birmingham.

Other private banks are hot on their heels with: Kleinwort Benson, Coutts, HSBC, Lloyds TSB, PwC and Allied Irish Bank all have Birmingham operations. Goldman Sachs moved there two years ago and Birmingham remains its only regional presence.
