New Street November Update II

Further to my previous update on redevelopment works at New Street Station, New Street November Update, here is an update from 13 November showing Stephenson Tower shrinking further as it is deconstructed and the removal of the steelwork from the former shop unit on the Pallasades Shopping Centre roof.

The deconstruction of Stephenson Tower.

The void which will be covered to create the new public square.

There also appears to be a test piece of the new concourse paving adjacent to WH Smith on the current concourse providing a clue to what the improved concourse will look like.

Hey love this blog! Really interesting updates on Birmingham construction. Quick question, what's the yellow crane and those containers for? Do you know what's in the containers? Every weekend the yellow crane comes in and lifts those containers unto the steel supports and I keep wondering what they're for..

The paving on the concourse has been there since around 2005. It's the old area where the doormats and doors used to be. They just filled the hole for the mats with this stone.

After 10 years waiting for the train at New Street it has always bothered me that it isn't in keeping with the rest of the flooring.
