Painting the town
Saturday 13th March gave artists the chance to start painting the town with the leading independent arts supplies retailer Cass Art opening a shop in Birmingham city centre; indeed their mission is "Let's Fill this Town with Artists".
The shop on Corporation Street is the 11th Cass Art shop and with their online shop, https://www.cassart.co.uk/, offers over 10,000 product lines selected from the world's best suppliers.
“Birmingham has a rich cultural heritage and continues to be a beacon of innovation, with a vibrant artist community and internationally acclaimed arts venues, there is no shortage of creative talent. With IKON gallery and Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery on our doorstep, we are excited to be at the heart of it all.”
CEO and Founder, Mark Cass
The first art store opened in 1984 on the Charing Cross Road with stores now in Islington, Kensington, Hampstead, Kingston and outside of London in Glasgow, Bristol, Liverpool and Brighton.
Cass Art is focused on engaging artists and novices alike and inspiring everyone to make and do art. With a rich history of art in Birmingham from Pre-Raphaelite artist through David Cox, Walter Langley, David Bomberg and Peter Phillips to Reuben Colley and new artists the shop might just have the materials to add more names to the list of noted Birmingham artists.
The store offers discounts for students and art educators and also offers a reward card.
Cass Art has two programmes that make art even more affordable for those who sustain art as a force in society: art students and artist educators. Cass Art supports students with the Cobalt Blue card and artist educators with the Viridian card, offering them exclusive discounts, inspiration and events.
As of March 2016, all other customers over 18 years’ old are eligible for a Cass Art Rewards card – that gives customers a £10 Reward for every £100 they spend at Cass Art, as well as exclusive offers and events.
The Rewards card will be available at Cass Art Birmingham.
