Brutal Birmingham End June 2016 Update II
Since my last update on June 3, http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.com/2016/06/brutal-birmingham-end-june-2016-update.html, there has been continuing progress on the demolition of the former Birmingham Central Library.
The demolition, as it nears it's end, has led to a series of obituaries of both the building but also the current phase of regeneration. The only constant of Birmingham being its change.
As a consequence, one of the city’s most recognisable qualities is its impermanence. You often sense that what is being built is only provisional and not expected to be there for very long, as the next wave of reinvention will be along shortly.http://www.bdonline.co.uk/john-madin-was-first-a-victor-then-a-victim-of-birminghams-identity-crisis/5081885.article
Work has seen both sides of the remaining structure being chipped away in tandem, presumably to ensure the lessen the load and pressure on the A38 tunnel below the site.
The following photos show the demolition since the 3rd June.
