No hot air as NEC secures certificate for it's carbon emissions reductions

The NEC Group has become the first purpose built exhibition, conference and arena venue in the UK to secure a Carbon Trust Standard certificate for sustained reduction of its carbon emissions, NEC Group awarded the Carbon Trust Standard certificate for sustained reduction of its carbon emissions.

The award, based on stringent criteria, saw the group record a 16% reduction in emssions over a three year measurement period. This has been achieved while attracting over four million visitors and over 900 events a year in its four venues on two sites.

The NEC Group has reduced its emissions through a number of initiatives, including a £6.5 million investment in new heating and ventilation systems at The NEC and use of a Combined Heat and Power generator to provide heating, hot water and air conditioning for The ICC and The NIA in the city centre.NEC Group awarded the Carbon Trust Standard certificate for sustained reduction of its carbon emissions.
