Resorts World Spectrcle

On 20 October I reported on the opening of Resorts World, http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-world-in-birmingham.html, and the new 11 screen Cineworld.  Following the opening, Monday 26 October saw the cinema officially opened with a premiere of the new James Bond film, SPECTRE.

I was privileged to attend the Resorts World premiere which took place 100 miles away from the Royal Albert Hall's own but which offered an equally grand showcase for the new James Bond film, http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/alternative-spectre-premiere-birmingham-glitz-6712295.  VIPS invited to the premiere included stakeholders who had worked with the cinema to prepare for it's opening in Resorts World, dignitaries such as the Mayor of Solihull and a smattering of local footballers, celebrities and personalities such as Nick Owen and Jasper Carrott, http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/whats-on/film-news/stars-red-carpet-resorts-world-10335931.  Prior to the start of the film VIPs were treated to drinks in the new High Line bar where they were able to admire the new resort.

The new cinema is Cineworld's third in the Birmingham area, following Solihull and Birmingham Broad Street, and features a Starbucks and Baskin Robbins together with 1,782 seats.  The cinema has created 70 new jobs.

Kris Unthank, Cineworld Birmingham NEC General Manager, comments: “We’re really excited about the opening of Cineworld Birmingham NEC.
