Paradise rising
It's been over a month since my last update on the Paradise redevelopment and demolition of the former Birmingham Central Library, http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.com/2016/10/paradise-born-from-brutal-birmingham-end.html. In that time work on the foundations for the first block, One Chamberlain Square, have started rising while the remnants of the old conservatoire are cleared away.
The core of the building is now rising with precast sections being constructed with each section made of three individual units, http://www.paradisebirmingham.co.uk/2016/11/construction-of-one-chamberlain-square-core-begins/. There will be seven sections reaching almost 7.5m high. Once the sections are in place and the podium deck completed construction of the new block can begin at ground level.
The following photos show the site viewed from the vantage of Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and from the Library of Birmingham.
