Finding a space in the Cube

The Birmingham Post has reported that Lifts put parking at The Cube on a new level with work beginning on the installation of the UK's largest automated car park at the Cube. The car park, sitting 20m below ground level will cover three-storeys and accommodate 339 spaces is being installed by German sub-contractor Wohr.

Using the latest technology, the automated system will allow users to drive in, and using swipe cards holding detailed information, the cars will be ferried swiftly and safely from one of the four lift garages to the appropriate space within one of the three levels below the 27-storey building. When leaving the building, drivers will then be directed to a dedicated lounge area where they will have to wait a maximum of 120 seconds to pick up their vehicle as it is collected from the stacking system. http://www.birminghampost.net/birmingham-business/birmingham-business-news/commercial-property-birmingham/2009/05/21/lifts-put-parking-at-the-cube-on-a-new-level-65233-23677398/

The car park sits comforably with the Cube's special features such as glazed rooftop restaurant, twisting glass atrium and iconic exterior of golden cladding and fretwork. The system will return a car to it's owner within a maximum two mnutes with two seperate stacking systems in case of breakdown and allows the car park to make maximum use of the space below The Cube.
