Marathon by Half 2011

There are only a few days to go until the 2011 Bupa Great Birmingham Run 2011 with 15,000 registered entrants as well as sporting legend Haile Gebrselassie taking part. The inaugural Bupa Great Birmingham Run takes place on Sunday 23rd October with Bupa Great Run events taking over the event which was previously titled the EDF Birmingham Half Marathon.

This year has seen the BUPA organisers iron out problems from the 2010 race which suffered from bottlenecks at the start and queues to cross the finish line. The race will start on Sandpits Parade and will have phased starts for the different waves of runners in speed order.

This year I am running for the County Air Ambulance and it's Helicopter Emergency Landing Pads (HELP) appeal and would welcome any donations to support their appeal which aims to construct or update existing helipads around the country and ensure that all A&E hospitals have suitable helipad access in the future, http://www.helpappeal.co.uk/
