British Transport seize control in Birmingham

Railnews has reported on the £8m control centre set to speed up response times in Birmingham. The British Transport Police control room has been created to improve response times and replaces former control centres in Birmingham, Leeds and Glasgow and Manchester from next March. The centre will supplement the reorganised London area centre.

The control centre opens early in 2009 and will be based in Axis House, next to the Mailbox.
