Royal Run - Edgbaston receives royal opening

The redevelopment of Edgbaston Cricket Ground received royal approval on the 25th July when HRH The Duke of Edinburgh unveiled a plaque to celebrate it's opening in his first visit to the ground since 2001, http://www.birminghammail.net/news/top-stories/2011/07/26/prince-philip-launches-32m-edgbaston-development-97319-29120022/

The Royal visit comes just over two weeks before Edgbaston receives another grand opening when it will be the focus of world cricket when India plays England in the Third Test Match. 80,000 tickets have already been sold for the third test.

Meanwhile across the road work is due to start imminently on the Edgbaston Mill development, Edgbaston Cricket Ground redevelopment - April update II, which will see a Hilton Doubletree hotel together with restaurants.
