Brutal Birmingham End July 2016 Update IV

Five days on from my last update on the demolition of the former Birmingham Central Library, http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.com/2016/07/brutal-birmingham-end-july-2016-update_22.html, work continues to clear the site ahead of work on the new Paradise development.

Carillion was recently awarded the contract for the first block in the Paradise development, One Chamberlain Square, which will house PwC on the top four and a half floors of the seven story building, http://www.constructionenquirer.com/2016/07/07/carillion-lands-first-new-building-at-500m-paradise-site/

The seven-storey building is situated at the very heart of the development, fronting both Chamberlain Square and the proposed Congreve Square. Using a variety of materials to complement the surrounding listed architecture in the area, the 172,000 sq ft building will boast a large roof terrace on the sixth floor offering spectacular views across the city, while restaurants and retail units will sit at ground level.  PwC will be relocating its 1,400 strong Birmingham team to the top four and half floors in early 2019.http://www.paradisebirmingham.co.uk/2016/07/contractor-for-first-paradise-building-confirmed/

The photos below, taken on the 26 July, show the site and the removal of the structure that once linked the former library to Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.
