A Birmingham multicultural welcome to the UK
Manchester Evening News reports that Pride of city's new citizens with figures revealing Manchester is the second most popular place in Britain for people to become British Citizens after Birmingham.
The report highlights that Birmingham conducted 3,880 ceremonies in 2007, compared to 2,383 in Manchester in the same year with Birmingham hosting it's ceremonies twice or three times a month.
In Manchester 9,147 people from 139 countries have been granted British Citizenship in ceremonies.
The revelation that Birmingham has welcomed the largest numbers of people to become British Citizens further enhances the multicultural diversity of the city, the second most diverse British City after London, and the great mix of people and cultures that brings a real mix of experiences and ideas.
