The eye has it - New Street Station February Update III
Here is an update showing progress on the New Street Station redevelopment since my previous update of the 10 February, New Street Station February Update II. The pictures below from 23 February show the stainless steel cladding nearly covering the Stephenson Street side of the station and glazing now being installed in the information 'eye' above the new corner entrance.

Meanwhile recent retail sales figures from Network Rail, http://www.railnews.co.uk/news/2013/02/12-new-station-trading-figures-show.html, offer an exciting draw for retailers considering the redeveloped station concourse and the Grand Central shopping centre above. Sales at Network Rail managed stations have outperformed the high street with the figures below showing changes between Quarter 3 2011 and Quarter 3 2012.

The Grand Central shopping centre was launched, http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/lifestyle/shopping/birminghams-new-grand-central-shopping-1321596, on 15 February with the draw of 40 shops and 15 restaurants and cafes attracting 50 million customers annually. The development of the new John Lewis store has promised to create 1,000 new jobs for local people, New Street Station - January 2013 Update C.
