Viewpoint for Now
On May 5th I wrote that Warner Estates, the leaseholders of the Pallasades and Ladywood House, had submitted plans for a new entrance for Ladywood House as part of a redevelopment of the building (http://birminghamcentral.blogspot.com/2008/05/first-viewpoint-towards-new-street.html).
Property Week has reported on the temporary approval of the plans by Birmingham City Council on the 24th July: Warner gets go-ahead in Brum. Property week report the refurbishment by architect 3D Reid covers the 95,000 sq ft 10 storey office building.
The following passage from the Conditions and Reasons in the Planning approval highlight the importance of the site in the wholesale redevelopment of New Street Station.

The development hereby permitted shall be removed on or before a period of three years from the date of this permission, with the replacement stairs reinstated to their original position or to an alternative position along Stephenson Street in accordance with a scheme of works submitted to and approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority.
