First 'Viewpoint' towards New Street Station?
Warner Estates, the leaseholders of the Pallasades Shopping Centre in Birmingham have submitted plans for a new entrance to Ladywood House on Stephenson Street as part of their 'Viewpoint' development. The owners of the Pallasades and Ladywood House are Network Rail. They note, however, the 'uncertainty of the New Street Station/Gateway development'. This reassuringly leaves options wide open for the station development and places this refurbishment in that context.
The Design Statement and Design Access statement notes the refurbishment will be to Grade B specification and will include full internal refurbishment but only a clean to the external elevation with possible replacement of window films.
The proposals include changes to the access to the Pallasades with the back stairs access to the Pallasades to close 'in line with the client's internal strategy of The Pallasades which considers the New Street Gateway project'.
