Small Jewellery Quarter gem shines bright

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, which in 2008 was voted the third most popular free tourist attraction by www.tripadvisor.com, Glittering Museum more popular than Westminster Abbey, has been named as the best small visitor attraction in the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence, Museum wins top tourist award.

The museum has just completed a record breaking year with more than 51,000 visitors in the past year, which is a 50% increase on the previous high.

"We obviously focus on the history of Birmingham's world famous Jewellery Quarter but also look to the future, commissioning new work from exciting local designers.

"The museum is a real Birmingham success story and can hopefully form part of a winning UK City of Culture bid." http://www.peterboroughtoday.co.uk/news/national/museum_wins_top_tourist_award_1_621895
