Dental Hospital construction May update

There has been rapid progress on the new Dental Hospital on the site of former BBC Pebble Mill Studios, Sinking teeth into Edgbaston, in Edgbaston since my last update of 25 March.

The following pictures show the site on 8 May 2014.

Meanwhile across the road, on Pershore Road, the former Birmingham Nature Centre which was rebranded in April as Birmingham Wildlife Conservation Park, http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/birmingham-nature-centre-relaunched-6884953, to reflect it's work with endangered species is now showing it's new entrance advertising for it's new name.

Park manager Les Basford said: “We are working with critically endangered species such as aloatran gentle lemurs, yellow breasted capuchin monkeys, northern bald ibis, Utila Island iguanas and cotton topped tamarins.

"We are also raising awareness of the plight of species and their habitats through a number of initiatives such as the ‘cans for corridors’ campaign.

“Our new name reflects the fact that we are focused on helping to save endangered species.”

The park which celebrates it's 40th anniversary this year having opened in 1974 and previously known as the living wing of the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, http://www.birminghampost.co.uk/lifestyle/family-planning-birmingham-nature-centre-3922015; http://brummiesguidetobirmingham.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/birmingham-nature-centre.html is the successor to Birmingham Zoo from 1964 - 1974, Zoo and Aquarium History: Ancient Animal Collections to Zoological Gardens, 2000.

The park is a very popular attraction for all ages and good value and I myself am a regular visitor to enjoy the variety of animals to be found in it's grounds.
