Dip into Moseley Road Baths

Sunday 11 May is Keep Moseley Road Baths Open Day from 1pm - 4pm with an opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at the baths and also the chance to share your views ahead of the local council elections on 22nd May to candidates standing for the local wards of Balsall Heath, Sparkbrook and Moseley.

The open day will allow you to learn about the history of the building, see the beautiful Gala Pool, slipper baths, laundry room and cold-water storage tanks and a chance to swim in Pool 2 from 2pm.

With areas that are normally closed open to explore it's worth bringing a camera to share the beauty of the pool as the fight to keep the baths open reaches it's most important stages, Sink or Swimming.  Exploring the building you will also be able to see where photographer Attilio Fiumarella captured the beauty of the building and the story of it's swimmers in his 'Cocoon Project', A story told in pictures.  Attilio's work has received international recognition with a selection of his photos being chosen by the KOLGA AWARD amongst their best photos of the year 2014 and being exhibited in Tbilisi, Georgia.  You can see some of his project featuring the swimmers of the baths at: http://www.attiliofiumarella.com/186177/2881005/projects/the-swimmers

The thoroughly researched and beautifully pictured history of the baths book, Pool of Memories, will be on sale together with postcards and greeting cards.  There is also a banner and flag making workshop and refreshments will be available, in return for a small donation or more if you'd like to help the Friends of Moseley Road Baths' work.

More information on the Open Day can be found on the Friends of Moseley Road Baths website: http://www.friendsofmrb.co.uk/

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Unfortunately there won't be an opportunity to swim in Pool 2 on the Open Day as there won't be a BCC Pool attendant present.
