Edgbaston Cricket Ground redevelopment - January update
Since my update on the redevelopment of Edgbaston Cricket Ground in November, Edgbaston Cricket Ground redevelopment - November update, work has progressed rapidly with work on installing the five new 160 ft tall lights and work moving onto the steelwork for the new blue fronted entrance to the ground.
The lights haven't been received well by all local residents but planning conditions will limit their to up to 15 days a year.
The redevelopment as can be seen in the pictures looks to be on time for it's summer completion ready for England’s Test Match against India. The redeveloped ground will incorporate a new conference and banqueting suite, executive boxes and lift the ground’s capacity to 25,000.
Images of what the completed stadium will look like
The photos below show the site on the 20th January with the 4th light ready to be installed on the base pole.
The photos from the 27th January below show work on the new entrance to the ground.
Meanwhile work is also rapidly progressing on the new Aldi adjacent to the Edgbaston Mill site.
