Last stop - new City Centre bus boarding points
As moves are made to start the extension of the Midland Metro through Birmingham City Centre, July 22 will be a significant day for travellers in and around Birmingham. The 22 July will see the move of city centre stops to six new interchanges, Connecting the Transport dots, with one of the most significant changes being the pedestrianisation of Corporation Street, to allow the metro to run down the street towards New Street Station, and the relocation of it's 10 bus stops.
The relocation will see stops moved into six interchanges at Snow Hill/ Colmore Row, Paradise Circus / Broad Street, New Street Gateway, Markets, Moor Street / Carrs Lane, and Bull Street / Priory Queensway.
Together with the new locations the new stops will see improved shelters and an improved design to compliment the new tram stops and on-street information points.
Bus marshals will be at bus stops between 15 and 29 July to help passengers with information and directions with information posters going up throughout the city to help ease the process of moving stops.
Network West Midlands has produced detailed maps on it's website showing the routes of affected buses and how they will enter and exit the new interchanges. An example is reproduced below courtesy of Network West Midlands to show this information.
