Library of Birmingham February Update
A year on from the start of work on the new Library of Birmingham, the Library architects Mecanoo Architecten have released new exciting flythroughs of the new Library of Birmingham whichcan be seen on YouTube showing what the new library will look like. There is a short 2 minutes video (youtu.be/1fNA20tl-74) and a longer 6 minutes (http://youtu.be/1FVu59P9RX4).
Having completed the floor slab of the first floor level work is now focussed on the decking for the second floor. With the REP also closed hoardings have been extended to surround the theatre in preparation for partial demolition work ahead of its physical link to the new libary.
2011 should see the topping out of the concrete frame, the installation of glazing and the addition of the metal frieze.
