New Street Station February update

Since my last update, New Street New Year - work set to steel approval, work continues albeit mostly hidden from view on the redevelopment of New Street Station. Meanwhile the government has released funds for the Midland Metro expansion, Metro funding helps transport out of bust, after approving Centro's case for the project. The £75 million pounds made available for the £129m project should enable work to proceed to open the extension and it's new terminus at New Street Station in time for the opening of the redeveloped station in 2015, http://www.birminghammail.net/news/birmingham-news/2011/02/05/government-makes-75m-available-for-midland-metro-expansion-97319-28116724/.

A lot of people I know have been moaning about this but I think it's really important that the station gets a refurb - it's such an important transport hub and as it's the first thing many people see when they arrive in the city, it helps shape their impression of Birmingham (it hardly compares to the sparkling new Bullring just next door).

I travel to Birmingham regularly for business and I would really recommend diving a little deeper to see its true gems. I would also really recommend staying in one of the serviced apartments Birmingham . has to offer in the refurbished Rotunda building - a spectacular example of how creative planning can turn old architecture into something interesting and new.

More modernism on the horizon, getting to be like Vegas. Think will vacate my city and escape to Shrewsbury where there is a pleasant traditional station just like the original New st.
Liverpool has a magnificent huge spanning roof along with Brighton station.Birmingham had the biggest span roof in the country if not the world.
Then corporate greed wanted a shitty shopping centre on top.Everything gone downhill ever since.
