Travelodge Carrs Lane development
Following my pevious post on the new hotels being developed around Birmingham, Short stay room for long term regeneration, here is an update on work for the new £7m Travelodge hotel on Carrs Lane which will include a Tesco Express store below. The development is due to open in September 2011.
The development will comprise a 4 storey and 7 storey building designed by The Harris Partnership which will house an 88 bed Travelodge hotel; the building will consist of a ground floor retail unit with 3additional floors at the front, stepping up to ground floor with 6 additional floors at the rear. The building works alongside the adjacent former gun shop building and will form an L-shaped hotel above the ground floor which mirros the courtyard of the former gun shop and create an enlarged open space within the centre of the two developments.
Images of what the finished building will look like are shown below from the planning application, 2010/01119/PA.
Photos showing construction work taking place from Monday 7th February 2011.
